do you ever get the feeling that someone is trying to tell you something? i've been getting that feeling a lot lately. every hukamnama i've read from Sri Guru Granth Sahib for the past two weeks has included the words "saas saas", or "naam jaap". coincidence? i think not! Naam abhyaas is something i really need to work on in my life. and it seems like Guru ji is shouting in my ear. it's funny, i have a bad habit of doing simran and reading my nitnem in my head, without speaking the words. then suddenly i get a hukamnama that says this:
saas saas araadhh har har dhhiaae so prabh man mukhee || With each and every breath, worship the Lord in adoration; meditate on the Lord God in your mind and with your mouth.
could Guru ji be more specific? i doubt it. in your mind and with your mouth. i really need to stop this quiet meditation and start speaking the words!
on days that i feel lonely, he tells me to join the sadh sangat. on days when i feel lost, he sends me a map to God, made of poetry and song.
people used to tell me about taking a hukamnama and having it be scary accurate, but i never believed it before. suddenly it's happening to me. sometimes there's even a noticeable difference between when i open Guru ji and when my husband does. sometimes our hukamnamae are nearly identical. sometimes we get vastly different instructions from Guru ji, based on what we need to hear.
when i think about it, i'm shocked by how much i have changed. i used to base everything on science and logic. i had no faith in anything. now i believe with all of my heart that i can ask a question, turn a page, and get my answer. and i do. every time. with frightening accuracy.
it's apparent to me that Guru ji is doing his job. i guess i should make sure to do my part, and FOLLOW that hukam!
salok ma 3 || Salok, Third Mehla:
sabhanaa kaa sahu eaek hai sadh hee rehai hajoor || There is One Lord God of all; He remains ever-present.
naanak hukam n ma(n)nee thaa ghar hee a(n)dhar dhoor || O Nanak, if one does not obey the Hukam of the Lord's Command, then within one's own home, the Lord seems far away.
hukam bhee thinhaa manaaeisee jinh ko nadhar karaee || They alone obey the Lord's Command, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace.
hukam ma(n)n sukh paaeiaa praem suhaagan hoe ||1|| Obeying His Command, one obtains peace, and becomes the happy, loving soul-bride. ||1||
it seems so simple. it isn't, of course, but i cling to the illusion that it's an easy path, lest i become overwhelmed.
waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh!

I don't even want to start how thunderously Gurujee can freak you out by being ultra specific in EVERY Hukam He gives you, even if its taken online!!!!!!!!

it's weird... just after posting this, i got the SAME hukamnama, two days in a row.
i mean, what are the odds of that?
Means He REALLY means what he is saying...LOL!
when Sikhs come to me with a question, my first response is always, 'Have you asked Guru Ji.' I get some standard responses to that:
I don't know how - that's easy to solve
I don't understand - then you aren't listening
That's stupid, it's just blind chance - are you a Sikh?
It's not important enough to bother Guru Ji with - yes, it is; Guru Ji loves to talk with her children
It's too much bother - you're right, it's too much bother
For me, I've found if I approach her seriously, she ALWAYS gives me a specific, succinct answer, although often not what I was expecting - or wanting.
fateh bibi ji,
speaking out the bani loud is indeed required.
u know, the other day i was depressed for not having a job and i opened gurbani fm radio. the shabad playing was "Santa Ke Kaaraj Aap Khaloya"
not implying i m a sant, i m just his son! and i did pray very hard for him to bless me.
next day i got an offer!!
the guru is great. u cant even estimate his reach!!
waheguru waheguru waheguru
